P.O. Box 904, Pocasset, MA 02559

Scott Petersen on 8-14-2011.
Dr. Bob Mondou on 8-21-2011.
Following births were announced:
Margo Shaw was born 7-12-2011 to Lindsay (Johnson) and James Shaw. Margo is named after Margo Johnson. Margo is the granddaughter of Ed Johnson.
Parker Malmberg was born 8-2-2011 to Sarah (Johnson), (sister of Lindsay) and Chad Malmberg. Parker is the granddaughter of Ed Johnson.
1. The minutes from the July 3, 2011 meeting were read and accepted.
2. The Treasurer’s report was read and accepted.
Old Business:
1. Field Day Report: Jack Sylvia thanked everyone for their superb efforts for a wonderful day. The gifts for the silent auction were great as were the bingo prizes. He solicits volunteers for next year’s Field Day. Applause for Jack’s efforts.
2. Julie Steinkrauss noted:
a. Thanks to the Bill and Mary Grace for a great July 4th function. Applause.
b. Thanks to all front beach owners for an association beach that is second to none. Applause.
c. Thanks to the Wainwright families for use of their driveway on Field Day. Applause.
d. Thanks again to the Rob and Sally Flynn for storage of the Field Day tables, chairs and tent support items. Applause.
e. Thanks to the Dennis and Priscilla Cronin for storage of the Field Day tent. Applause.
f. Thanks to Jill Wainwright and Janis Wheeler for the Jimmy Buffet event on August 20. Applause
g Bob Horne still has 16 Houses of Wenaumet Bluffs books available at $30.
3. One Hour Parking Limit sign at the River Dock. Board of Selectmen will vote on this subject on Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011. It is item #11 on the agenda. The Town meeting starts at 7:30PM.
4. Dock Committee Report (Rich Dow & Mitch Keith):
a. Front Dock/Pier/Rafts: We learned valuable lessons from Hurricane Bob in 1991. Irene did minor damage to the great design of the front pier walkway. Nails are over 20 years old and some re-nailing is required. The slide dock lost a 50 pound mushroom anchor and temporary repairs have been made. The larger (outer) mooring needs inspection and Town certification. The placement of smaller rocks/stones on the front dock jetty subject continues. Jay Chapin continues to work with Barbara Frappier. Dock committee states that a permit is not required as long as there is no mechanical equipment on Town property. The committee will research the cost estimate for rocks/stones and report to the Officers & Directors for approval of expenditure.
b. River Dock: New cleats were installed. The T-portion needs painting and some new woodwork. The stairs are on hold pending Town of Bourne repairs to the bulkhead. Applause for the dock committee’s efforts.
5. Hazardous Waste Disposal date is October 15: Peebles Elementary School, Bourne (0900 until 1:00PM).
New Business:
1. Julie Steinkrauss: Do we, as an Association, want the Officers and Directors to support initiatives (write letters) to change the Town of Bourne “Waterway Rules and Regulations” policies on the following two subjects:
a. People in Wenaumet Bluffs who own waterfront property should be able to apply for an outhaul in front of their property and not go to the bottom of the mooring list. WBIWA passed a motion to support this initiative.
b. Moorings should be allowed to transfer within families as long as they are owners of the same property and pay Bourne taxes. The case here is that Michael Trombley lost his mooring site with the passing of his Dad. He should not have to go to the bottom of the mooring list. WBIWA passed a motion to support this initiative.
2. 2012 Dates:
a. First Meeting: Sunday, July 1 at 1215.
b. Field Day: Saturday, August 4. Parade starts at 0845 at Dave & Linda Dow’s house.
c. Last Meeting: Sunday, September 2 at 1215.
3. Discussion about the upkeep of the front runway and bikes in the runway. It was suggested that bike rack be placed at the entrance way. This rack might encourage people from outside WB to use our facilities. The Town owns the land. No action taken on the bike rack.
4. The nominating committee of Kathy Newcomb, Steve Molind and Ross Palioca announced new Directors as: Sam Wainwright and Tammy Keith - with terms expiring in September 2013. Thanks to our outgoing Directors, Kevin Carlson and Douglas O’Flaherty. Applause. Motion made and accepted for installation of the new directors.
5. Rich Dow announced that the End of Summer “cocktail party” would start on his lawn at 3:00PM until 6:00PM. Please bring a dish of your choice. Refreshments provided.
6. Wenaumet Bluffs Yacht Club meeting to follow on Crain’s lawn.
7 Adjournment: Motion made and voted to adjourn the meeting at 12:47 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert M. Horne
Secretary
