Wenaumet Bluffs Improvement and Wharf Association (WBIWA)

The meeting was called to order by President, Kara Miele, at 12:15pm.
A moment of silence for the following:
Birth announcements:
The 2021 Officers: President (Kara Miele), Vice-President (Louisa West), Secretary (Diane Boulanger), Treasurer (Len Hills)
Directors: Sandy Boardman- 2021, John Ricciuti-2021, Tom Hayes- 2022, Allan Arch- 2022. Thank you to Sandy, Allan and Tom for joining the board.
Meeting Minutes were approved from September 6, 2020
Old Business:
Dingy Dock, 10 spots are full and a waitlist has been formed (contact Len Hills to be added). There are currently 7 people on the waitlist.
“Safety” issues: No glass on the beach, dock or seawall- there have been recent reports of injuries from broken glass. Please use plastic wine glasses. Beer bottles – please pour into a cup or use a koozie.
Please mind the speed limit (15MPH) and be courteous to your neighbors regarding noise
No dogs on the beach
No bikes on the ramps or docks
New Business:
Wenaumet Bluffs Website: https://wbiwa.weebly.com/ The website is not new, but it has great information and dates to make note of.
Lilly Pad in front of John Ricciuti’s home is open to all. Thank you, John!
Laura and Don Rhodes have donated a defibrillator. Training will be offered to those who are interested. We will determine where the device will be located.
Beach Tags were distributed to all that have paid their annual dues. If you have not yet paid, please give/send your checks to Len Hills for $100 made out to WBIWA or send to: WBIWA PO Box 904 Pocasset, MA 02559. Email [email protected] or call 617-308-9390 to arrange to pick up your beach stickers.
The Beach: Covid restrictions are in place for those who are not vaccinated. Please keep groups of beachgoers 6 feet apart and follow MA state guidelines.
Please limit the number of guests at the beach, especially on weekends.
We had hoped to have town issued trash and recycle bins but they do not support private organizations. Please take all your trash home with you.
Fisherman Update: Please call the police if a car is parked illegally. Tickets have been issued to those cars parked on the
boat ramp or blocking driveways.
July Event: Illumination night will be held on July 24 at dusk. You are invited to decorate the outside of your home with lanterns, lights or candles. Google Oak Bluffs Illumination night, for ideas.
New Event: Each Wednesday, residents are invited to bring a beverage to the beach to watch the sunset.
July 4th cocktail party was announced to be held between Miele’s and Arches’ yards. Sunday 4-6pm. BYOB, an appetizer to share and bring a chair if you would like to sit.
Treasurer’s Report: Len Hills distributed the Profit & Loss statement to members. All expenses/bills need to be approved by the board in advance of work commitments.
Float and Dock report: Rich Dow reported:
New slide- 150 lb max weight. Kids only, please
New “Cats” to prevent birds from making a mess
Beach cleanup immediately following this meeting
River dock has been newly painted
New non-slip strips will be added to the River Runway
New swim lines are in. Please do not enter the swim area with boats, kayaks or paddle boards.
Dredge Report: Barry Perkins provided an update that dredging is expected to happen between November 3 and January 1. Please check the Bourne website for updates www.townofbourne.com
Field Day: Friday August 6 and Saturday August, 7 2021. Louisa West reported. Volunteers are needed! Email Louisa at [email protected] if you can help out.
